A Tech-inspired Push Against Longstanding Construction Challenges

Over the years, many different traits have tried to define human beings, but honestly speaking, none have done a better job than that tendency of pursuing growth under all circumstances. This relentless drive to get better has brought the world some huge milestones, with technology emerging as quite a major member of the group. The reason why we hold technology in such a high regard is, by and large, predicated upon its skill-set, which guided us towards a reality that nobody could have ever imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, if we look up close for a second, it will become clear how the whole runner was also very much inspired from the way we applied those skills across a real world environment. The latter component, in fact, did a lot to give the creation a spectrum-wide presence, and as a result, initiate a full-blown tech revolution. Of course, this revolution eventually went on to scale up the human experience through some outright unique avenues, but even after achieving a feat so notable, technology will somehow continue to bring forth the right goods. The same has turned more and more evident in recent times, and assuming one new construction-themed development ends up with the desired impact, it will only put that trend on a higher pedestal moving forward.

DEVELON has officially launched its latest mini-excavator in DX42-7, which is designed, in particular, to help for navigating tight, congested jobsites and urban areas. Offering fast cycle times, torque-limiting piston pumps that respond to load demands, and a large counterweight for better balance and durability, the excavator comes integrated up with a standard thumb-ready arm so to eliminate any need for welding when adding a thumb attachment. As an extension to that feature, it has a quick-coupler hydraulic piping directly installed at the end of the arm, something that makes extra accessories redundant and simultaneously reduces the time you might take to switch attachments. Moving on, the excavator enhances user experience by also allowing them to choose, as per their preference, between two primary control patterns i.e. ISO and BHL. Considering the vehicle is specifically built to thrive in challenging environment, it is provided with a host of safety visibility features. For instance, DX42-7 boasts dedicated LED lamps that let the operator have a better view of the work group’s exact location. Then, there is also an optional rearview camera which affords the user an extra bit of perspective, and complimenting the same is a travel alarm. Meant to bolster jobsite awareness, the travel alarm is to be activated when the machine is moving in reverse motion or is operational on the jobsite. Furthermore, the excavator is also given an optional rotating beacon the operator can leverage during work across high-traffic areas or even low-light situations. Rounding off the greater visibility bid is a framed full-glass door, which, like you can guess, should permit a comprehensive view of the excavator’s surroundings.

The DX42-7 also has a telematics angle to it. This angle comes mainly through DEVELON’s fleet management system and hands owners and dealers access to critical equipment data, such as machine location, health and performance. Not just that, the stated parties can also use an app or website to then analyze that information and make more educated decisions.

When quizzed regarding the company’s new product, Thomas Lee, director of product management at DEVELON, said:

“Weighing in at 4 metric tons, the DX42-7 delivers the power, maneuverability and versatility our customers have come to expect from DEVELON mini excavators. Whether it’s utility work, landscaping, construction or site prep, the DX42-7 boasts an impressive lifting capacity, enabling effortless movement of pipes, boulders and various materials. With its powerful digging forces, customers can accomplish more tasks in less time.”

Talk about the excavator’s cabin, it comes with both an open canopy and enclosed cab configuration. The enclosed cab models offer standard heating and air conditioning and hands-free Bluetooth audio. Sticking to the point of air conditioning, it notably has the means to promote airflow through multiple vents, thus catering to operator comfort. Another feature of the cabin is its thumb switch, which can control auxiliary hydraulic functions and facilitate fine adjustments. This thumb switch can also help you control the broom swing, and therefore, remove the hassle of foot pedals.

Among more general features, DX42-7 Mini Excavator has 47 hp at 2,200 rpm worth of horsepower, 11 ft., 5 in. maximum digging depth, 18 ft., 3 in. maximum digging reach,  12 ft., 6 in. maximum loading weight, and travel speed worth 2.1 – 3.1 mph.
